I recently purchased both products.
Here is my opinion about what I liked and didn't like.
MATERIAL
Here is my opinion about what I liked and didn't like.
MATERIAL
I like the black Boba, but felt it could be softer. Maybe the organic is softer? The black material tends to pick up on any type of fuzz. I should have thought about that when purchasing, but the Ergo black isn't the same material and it doesn't pick up fuzz like the Boba does. The Ergo was lighter then the Boba.
Ergo - softer, lighter
Boba - thicker, catches fuzz
HOOD
I do not like the thickness of the hood on the Boba. It is bulky when it is put away. I would like a soft cotton hood. I liked the hood on the Ergo better. When put away, it didn't take up much room. Both hoods (Ergo Performance, Boba) were removable. The Ergo Performance hood was much softer and not as thick. Ergo says their hoods are UVB and UVA, but I'm unsure if Boba has this with their fabrics.
Ergo - soft hood, UVA/UVB, removable(performance)
Boba - thick hood, bulky - takes up pocket, removable
STRAPS
I love the straps on the Boba. They are thick and they sit directly on my shoulders. I felt that the Ergo straps sat too close to my neck and then squished my baby. I like how the strap in the back can move up and down, but I felt that the Ergo straps stuck in place better. I love the ability to wrap the straps. This is completely necessary. Those straps get in the way. I liked the way the Boba strap around the waste was better then the Ergo. I felt that the waste band on the Ergo was lower and not as comfortable. The Boba was the same width in the front from side to side. The Ergo gets bigger in the middle. Boba has an option to hold your purse on your shoulder. Nice feature.
Ergo- thick, curved towards neck, back strap moves up and down, but sticks a bit better then Boba, waste band is wider, curved in front and straight on sides, straps have strap holders
Boba-thicker straps then Ergo, back strap moves up and down easily, maybe a bit too easy, waste band is one width from side to side, straps have strap holders, purse holder
NEWBORN OPTION (FOLD)
I do not like the newborn option on either. It is a great idea but should be finessed. My baby was very little weight and width wise so this option was necessary for me. When using the Boba though, she was borderline and her weight or the way she sat caused the buttons to pop. I am worried as she gets older that the buttons will cause marks on her legs. I'm hoping you have an option to put a button over it for now considering I won't use that any longer. I think the newborn option on the Ergo is bulky and hot in the summer.
Ergo-accessory for newborn to purchase, hot and bulky
Boba-buttons come undone
