Bonavita BV1800TH 8 cup review copy
Was told by the proprietor of a very upscale kitchen equipment store that the two best coffee makers were the Technivorn and the Bonavita. The 'Tech' starts at $300, +/-. The Bonavita, half that, in line with many of your standard coffee makers with a thermal carafe. BUT...not even the 'Tech' maintains the 195-205 degree brewing temp throughout the brewing process....only the Bonavita.
The other standard coffee makers don't approach that range. And the 'Tech' only has a single outlet for the heated water, in the center of the cone. The Bonavita's multiple outlets get the 'first' water to ALL the coffee. COARSE grind your favorite coffee (if you buy pre-ground or canned coffee you shouldn't be reading this review), Melitta filter folded at the lip
and pressed down into the filter holder, and start with the same amount of grounds you presently use, adjusting more or less to your taste, Three or four pots and you will find the right measure for the flavor you prefer. "Only an 8 cup carafe?" you say.
The glass insert (worked in our early thermoses better than the plastic or metal currently the fad. And the 5/6 minutes it take to make a fresh pot is less time than it takes to get a single refill an any restaurant or coffee emporium. Drink fresh, hot, flavorful coffee without any bitter after-taste.
